Long Term Houses For Rent In Seaside Oregon

Seaside Rentals

If you live anywhere near the NW Oregon Coast, you know that it is quickly becoming one of the top sought after places to live in the Pacific Northwest – specifically the Seaside and Astoria areas. While this is no surprise to those of us that are lucky enough to live here already, it is still shocking to see just how fast our small communities are growing. With the surge of newcomers comes a housing shortage across the county. Homelessness rates are rising, and more housing is going up faster than ever while developers try to cash in on the population influx, and simply try to get enough housing available for those already here, and those that are still to come. While you’ll find no shortage of beach houses and vacation homes, local real estate is coming in short on rentals in the area.

County Wide Shortage

Seaside is undeniably one of the most popular vacation destinations in the state of Oregon. In addition to the vast nature that surrounds it, it is centrally located just 90-minutes away from downtown Portland and located within a 20-minute drive to other popular cities like Astoria, Cannon Beach, and Lincoln City. These are just a couple of the things that make the area such a popular location for those looking to relocate. With plenty of job opportunity, a big craft beer/brewery scene, and an all-around great community, it is not hard to see why Clatsop County is growing more rapidly than ever. Unfortunately, the number of rental properties (aside from some newly developed apartments) is not growing along with our population. Apartments and houses, studio apartments, and other home types are some of the most sought after rentals in the area.

While some may argue, the only downside we see to our growth is the overall lack of affordable housing and housing in general. As mentioned before, developers are quickly securing land and constructing new complexes, but there simply isn’t enough to go around for the time being. While our local real estate market is booming, median house prices are at an all-time high. Places, or land for sale, are being listed and sold within a matter of days or weeks, and not everyone can afford the hefty price tag, and high mortgage rates that come with purchasing. That is why having more rentals available in the area is an important piece of our growth as a community. At this rate, even relocating to a nearby city doesn’t guarantee your chances of finding a place.

Finding a Rental

While coming by places to rent in the area is becoming more scarce, that does not mean it is impossible. Knowing local property managers, or those with investment properties surely helps, it is simply not enough to secure housing in this competitive market. Here on seasideoregon.com, we hope to help those looking for housing by posting updated listings, as well as give owners/landlords the opportunity to post their available housing on our site. If you would like to submit your rentals, please fill out our “help” form via our contact page. We will contact you as soon as possible to gather all of your listings information. If you are thinking of or planning on moving to the area, leave a comment below describing your needs and we will do our best to connect you with housing in the area.

Hi! Unfortunately, places to rent are scarce here as of late. Like your friend, it is possible to find a place but you have to be on the lookut and act fast! We recommend reaching out to local property management companies and getting a list of what they have listed currently. We also suggest looking on the Facebook group “Goonieville Buy and Sell” as that is a local “For Sale” page – people will often post houses and apartments they are renting. A quick Google search with the terms “Seaside Oregon Houses for Rent” should pull up some rental companies and listings! Good luck and let us know if we can help you out.

My family is in a need of a home to rent for a couple of years. We need at least 3 + rooms (can be an office or basement) and 2 + bath. We are hoping to have something by November 1st or anytime in the month of November. We are looking mostly in Seaside but can do Warrenton or Gearhart. Any help would be appreciated, rentals are very hard to come by right now. We do have a large amount of money we can use for deposits or what is needed. Thank you in advance.

My husband and I are looking for a cat-friendly unfurnished rental in Seaside starting mid-to late April 2020. We need to rent for a minimum of 3 months and a maximum of one year while we wait for our home in Ashland, Oregon, to sell and learn the different neighborhoods in the Seaside area, and where we can afford to buy.

      Hi Michelle,

I will keep my eyes open for something. Right now rentals are very hard to come by, but sometimes we hear about things before they hit the market. How many bedrooms are you looking for?

We’re trying again this year and hoping once again to move mid-April. We need at least one bedroom, and two would be better. Sorry I didn’t reply last year; I couldn’t figure out how to get back to this website. Pets are no longer an issue.

My husband and I just relocated to the Seaside area. We are in search of a rental in the area that will be available in the next 30 to 60 days. We currently live on property at one of the hotels he manages and his company is allowing us that amount of time to find somewhere to live. We also have a small non-barking breed, non-shedding, hypo-allergenic dog. Any insight or leads would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
